The Color Run

Many of you know that I have taken on running since earlier this year.  I now own some good running clothes and Doug bought me the Nike+ sensor to track my mileage and pace when I run.  I have to say after doing it for awhile now, I enjoy it.  Sometimes it is hard to kick myself out the door because of dishes or kids or who knows what, but I go and I love it.  I ran a 5K race back in March and had a blast.  Then I had a friend say we should all run The Color Run together.  This race was so much FUN!!  It wasn't timed because they wanted you to have fun.

The race began and everyone started out clean.

At every kilometer the race staff would throw colored dust at the runners.
There was a different color every kilometer.

You can see what happens as the race goes on.

You ended the race a mess!  But it was totally worth it.

We all had so much fun we decided that we need to do this race every year!

** Added bonus my first 5K I did in 45:40 (pretty crappy, I know) but this one I timed and completed in 37:37!

***all pictures came from my friends blogs, as I did not have a camera with me. (Thanks Emily and Elise)

Solar Eclipse

As we all know the solar eclipse came and went this year.  I thought I would take the opportunity to show my kids what a solar eclipse would look like.  I turned to to YouTube to find out how to make a solar eclipse viewer.  After digging through the recycle bin in search of some boxes that would work, I got to work.  The kids were so excited.  Here are some pictures of them during the eclipse.

I think Masyn had the best view!

Ryleigh's hair crisis

For a long time Ryleigh has been telling me about how she is growing her hair long like Grandma Kile (my mom's hair is down to her lower back).  This last week she has been bugging me to cut it short like mine.  Well, I finally gave in and cut her hair.

Later that day in primary she came up asking for me to braid her hair.  I told I couldn't do it then and that I wasn't sure if we could braid it anymore with how short it was.  I wasn't able to get out the last part before she broke down in tears and started to sob in the back of the primary room.  I had to take her to the hallway to calm her down.  I had to promise her that when we got home we would braid her hair.

CRISIS AVERTED!!

Who doesn't love a little Queen??

I am pretty sure I should expect revenge for such video being placed for the public eye.  But I thought it was great and still makes me smile.

Now Masyn thinks anytime Queen comes on he needs the broom to sing with!

Summer is coming!!!

We are SUPER excited that summer is coming!  A couple of years ago my family would get together and go to "movies on main" at our outdoor mall here is town.  As the activity has had more publicity it has gotten very busy and hard to get decent seats without showing up and spending your afternoon and evening there.  My dad decided it would be a great idea to do our own movies on his garage.  So it has become a tradition that during the summer we get together and do movies on the garage.  The kids love it; nothing is better than getting in your pajamas and watching a movie in the backyard.

We won!!!

Last fall Doug's older sister and husband came up with a fitness challenge for the family.  The family that worked out the most minutes/ran the most miles would win and get to pick where the family went out to lunch when everyone got together at Christmas.  The whole family enjoyed it that we decided to continue the challenge with a twist.  Each couple puts in $5 a month, then we document how many minutes we work out a day.  Whoever has the most minutes come the end of the month wins the money in the pot (anywhere from $20-$25).  The biggest rule of this challenge is the money when won CAN NOT go into your budget.  It must be spent on a date or something else fun and then tell the family about it and share a picture.  Long story short we won for the month of March (finally!!!)

We decided to check out a new trendy breakfast restaurant in Fort Collins called Snooze.  We thought it was pretty tasty.  Afterwards we walked around old town and enjoyed each others company.
